Five Minute Friday: I love the community of bloggers that come together each week to do what we love the most—just write. We all have the same one word prompt. We each have five minutes. No extensive editing or backtracking.
This week the word is crowd.
On Sundays I wake up before anyone else, throw on some shoes and a jacket, grab my bag and escape. I seek solitude. I seek time alone with the Father.
The extravert that I am seeks solitude amidst the crowd. I settle into an uncomfortable chair at the coffee shop around the corner. The baristas expect me. Each week I visit briefly with two couples from my church. With my ear buds in, I half listen to my favorite podcasts. With a pen in my hand and multiple journals to record my thoughts and prayers, I sit and enjoy the quiet.
It is in these moments that I can settle my soul. As my thoughts are turned toward Him, I rest. I am rejuvenated by the hustle around me. People come and go in a blur as the hours tick away, and I am still.
I long for these hours each week. They fill my cup.
Stop. Five minutes already?

These few hours away each week sound heavenly!:)
I long for moments like those. To retreat to a quiet place with my Father. Thanks for this post!
I’ve heard so many people say they enjoy being in these busy cafe atmospheres so I tried it early this morning. I actually began composing my FMF post there. Couldn’t make it happen for me though. Is it because I’m more of an introvert? I wonder. I’m going to try it again though, this time with ear buds. Visiting from FMF.
Ear buds are a must for me. I get distracted by auditory stimulus. I college I would study in the noise reduced typing closet with head phones on, but I had to be around people.
My oh my… you had me with journal! And time alone with the Father , of course! Love that you keep multiple journals. A girl after my own heart!
Thanks for dropping by!
